The new book, Du droit dans Game of Thrones (The Law in Game of Thrones), is edited by Quentin Le Pluard and Péran Plouhinec. Here from the publisher’s website is a description of the book’s contents.

The television show Game of Thrones and the literary saga of the Iron Throne on which it’s based have had a world-wide impact. At the center of this fictional universe depicting a medieval society that is brutal and cruel, which includes some fantasy elements such as dragons, we can barely count the number of murders, rapes, examples of incest, torture and other blameworthy actions, to the point that it seems as if law and justice don’t even exist. In fact, the opposite is true. There is a legal system in Game of Thrones. Is a person brought back from the dead by magic still a human being in the eyes of the law and does he still maintain the legal relationships that he created before his death? Is a wall of ice several tens of meters high a legal boundary? In addition, what law governs the women presented in the series? The authors of this book, applying their knowledge of fiction and law, respond to these questions and many others involving all areas of law. This work demonstrates that the study of one area can be enriched by contributions from the other. Accessible to all–beginners in the study of law as well as in Game of Thrones, or those who are both law-trained and also confirmed Game of Thrones fans–it presents yet another proof that, as the saying goes, law is everywhere. It is thus also in Game of Thrones. (Trans: Ed.)

Mare & Martin has also published two other law and popular culture volunes: Fabrice Defferard’s Le droit selon Star Trek (2015)

and Arnaud Coutant’s Les lois d’Alfred Hitchcock (2018).

Mare & Martin, the French publisher, has released a new volume in its collection of law and popular culture works.
