The FRONTLINE Fellow will also take on substantial responsibility for the development and operation of a documentary filmmaker education program \u2013 tentatively titled \u201cWhat Doc Filmmakers Should Know About the Law\u201d. Approximately fifteen to twenty students work in the Clinic each semester, typically working in three or four-person teams.\u00a0 Each clinical team provides counsel and services to several filmmakers each semester, covering a wide range of transactions and issues, including:\u00a0 copyright law; newsgathering; libel, privacy and First Amendment issues; content licensing and business formation; insurance and liability issues and contract negotiation and drafting. It has established partnerships with prominent film organizations, including the Sundance Institute, the International Documentary Association (\u201cIDA\u201d) and FilmIndependent (\u201cFI\u201d), each of which regularly refer filmmakers and grantees\u00a0 \u00a0to the Clinic for legal support.\u00a0 Students coming out of the Clinic have secured coveted positions at several of the best media\/entertainment law firms in the country and applications for the Clinic far exceed the number of available slots.
