Alfred Binet, born (as Alfredo Binetti) on this day in 1857 (died October 18, 1911), was the co-originator of the first generally used intelligence test, the Binet-Simon test. He earned a degree in law from the University of Paris in 1878, but much preferred the study of psychology. He also wrote plays and became interested in the work of the best chess players.<\/p>\n
